📱 Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters — especially when using messaging & contact features.

⚠️ Important notice regarding sensitive permissions: This mobile application accesses your device contacts and may automatically send SMS messages and emails based on your explicit instructions or triggered workflows. By using this app, you acknowledge and consent to these core functionalities.

1. Introduction & Scope

Welcome! This Privacy Policy explains how “ConnectAutomate” (referred to as "the App", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our mobile application. The App is designed to access contact numbers stored on your device, and with your authorization, automatically send text messages (SMS) and emails to facilitate communication, reminders, alerts, or other automated workflows you set up.

We are committed to protecting your data and the privacy of people in your contact list. This policy applies to all users of the App. Please read it carefully before granting permissions or using the automated messaging features.

2. Information We Collect & Access

To enable core features — accessing contacts and sending automated messages — the App requires specific permissions and processes the following data:

📇 Contact Information: With your explicit permission, the App can read contact entries stored on your device. This includes names, phone numbers, email addresses, and any other fields available in your contacts (e.g., organization, notes). The App does not upload your entire contact list to external servers unless you enable cloud backup (see section 4). Contact data is primarily processed locally for message automation.

✉️ SMS & Messaging Data: When you trigger automated text messages, the App will send SMS using your device's native messaging framework. We may collect metadata such as recipient phone number, timestamp, and message status (delivered/failed) to improve reliability and provide logs. Message content is not stored on our servers longer than necessary for delivering the service (e.g., delivery logs).

📧 Email Data: If you enable automated emails, the App may connect to your email provider (via OAuth or SMTP settings you provide). We collect recipient email addresses, subject lines, and message content solely to send emails as you configure. Your email credentials are stored encrypted locally unless you use our optional cloud sync.

📱 Device & Usage Information: Standard diagnostic data (device model, OS version, app version, crash logs) helps us improve stability and performance. We never sell this data.

We do not collect call logs, location data, browsing history, or sensitive financial information unless explicitly stated.

3. Automatic SMS & Email — How It Works

The App allows you to create automation rules (e.g., send a birthday SMS, auto-reply, campaign broadcasts). When these rules are triggered:

  • Automatic SMS: The App will send text messages directly from your device’s phone number (carrier dependent). You remain fully responsible for the content and compliance with applicable telecommunication laws (e.g., TCPA, CTIA guidelines). We do not provide phone numbers or send messages from third-party gateways unless integrated separately.
  • Automatic Emails: Using your configured email account (Gmail, Outlook, custom SMTP), the App will dispatch emails on your behalf. We store minimal logs to confirm delivery status.
  • Trigger Conditions: Automations can be time-based, event-driven (e.g., contact added), or manual bulk selection. You have full control to pause or delete any automation.

4. Permissions & Your Control

We request the following Android/iOS permissions to deliver functionality. You can revoke any permission at any time via device settings, but certain features may become unavailable.

  • READ_CONTACTS / CONTACTS: Required to access contact names and numbers/emails. We never modify or delete your contacts.
  • SEND_SMS / SMS permissions: Required to programmatically send text messages. The App does not read incoming messages unless you explicitly enable a complementary feature (like auto-reply).
  • INTERNET & NETWORK: Used to send emails via external servers and to check for app updates/analytics.
  • SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM (Android) / Notifications: For scheduling automated messages at precise times.

Data Storage: Contact data and message logs are stored locally on your device. If you enable optional cloud backup (encrypted), we will ask for separate consent and provide details within the app. You can delete all stored data by uninstalling the App or using "Erase Data" in settings.

5. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We respect your privacy and do not sell, rent, or trade your contact list, phone numbers, or message contents to advertisers or data brokers. Limited data may be shared only in these scenarios:

  • Service Providers: To send emails, we may rely on email APIs (e.g., Gmail API, Microsoft Graph). Those providers have their own privacy policies, but we only transmit data necessary to dispatch your emails.
  • Legal Obligations: If required by law, court order, or governmental regulation, we may disclose limited information.
  • Aggregated Analytics: We use anonymized, non-identifiable data (e.g., "500 messages sent per day") to improve app performance.

No third party receives direct access to your raw contact list or full message content for marketing purposes.

6. Data Security & Retention

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data: local encryption for stored preferences, encrypted network connections (TLS), and regular security audits. However, no mobile system is 100% invulnerable. You are responsible for securing your device (e.g., using screen lock, avoiding jailbreak).

Retention: Automation logs, contact caches, and message history are retained on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App. Cloud backups (if you opt in) are retained for 30 days after you disable the feature or request deletion.

7. Your Rights & Choices

You have control over your information:

  • Revoke Permissions: Go to your device Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Permissions and disable Contacts, SMS, or Notification access.
  • Delete Local Data: Use “Clear App Data” in device settings or the “Erase all message logs/contact cache” option inside the App.
  • Opt-out of Analytics: Disable “Usage Analytics” in the privacy dashboard within the App.
  • Request Data Deletion: Email us at privacy@connectautomate.com with your user ID (found in settings). We will respond within 30 days.

For California residents (CCPA) and GDPR users in Europe: you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data we hold. Please contact us.

8. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to individuals under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child has provided us with personal data, we will delete it immediately. Please contact us if you believe a child has used the App without parental consent.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect new features, legal changes, or best practices. If changes are significant, we will notify you via in-app notice or email (if you provided). The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the latest revision. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
